Argelès-Gazost

Argelès-Gazost, a small village located a few kilometers from Lourdes , is my destination for the day! I park in the car parks located at the bottom of the village. You have to go up one of the small streets leading to the city center, a lift is installed for people with reduced mobility. From the car parks, the lift is indicated by a red sign!

I arrive directly at the town hall square where the weekly market takes place: every Tuesday ! Local products, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads… the village markets that I love so much! It's the best way to discover or rediscover these products from a rich and unique land.

I then head towards the Jacques Chancel terrace which offers all its visitors a superb view of the "lower town" and the Pyrenees . Hautacam, the Pic du Soulon and many other mountains (and wonders!!) face me! A real jewel of nature that I contemplate for long minutes. Behind me, the Tour de Mendaigne and a small restaurant where I think it is very pleasant to eat there, summer and winter with this panorama changing with the seasons!!

It is also on this square that you will find the tourist office. If it is not open, do not panic, there is a digital terminal giving all the information 24/7, located on the side. You have the addresses of accommodation, restaurants, remarkable points to see in the village, tourist sites in the surrounding area, the weather... in short, all the data recorded is really very complete.

I now push open the door of the Saint-Saturnin church. It is a church with simple but very pretty architecture. It fits well with the atmosphere of the small mountain village! There are a few restaurants, shops and hotels . Thus, Argelès-Gazost is a good stopover for your stay in the Hautes-Pyrénées, far from the noise of the big cities and close to all the remarkable and unmissable sites of the Hautes-Pyrénées.

It is a very cute village, which even in winter offers you all the warmth you need to have a great ski holiday ! The shopkeepers are friendly, the locals do not hesitate to show you the way... life is beautiful in Argelès-Gazost!!
