  (update at bottom) BE WARY OF STAYING HERE. Was OVER charged by the owners, but was told that the charge would be fixed after having an issue our first night and immediately checking out the next morning. Booking confirmed that the hotel had agreed to adjust the charge accordingly, however the charge has still not been fixed. After several weeks, they have also stopped responding to the Booking customer service representatives as well. It is very regrettable since there were other reviews prior to our stay that caused me doubt, but being a small business I went against my better judgement and booked it anyways with optimism. In addition to the overcharge issue, the amenities and comfortability of the accommodations are not being accurately reflected online, and upon arriving we discovered disappointing conditions. The upkeep of the property appears to be beyond the abilities of the owners to the point where safety becomes a concern. (Hence our immediate checkout.) There were no linens provided, which is apparently an additional charge although this is not explained adequately during booking or check in. We arrived late in the evening after a long drive (understandably, as it is a fairly remote, mountain location) to find the cabin without towels, pillowcases, or bed sheets. There were multiple (as in too many to count) spiders repeatedly entering the inside of the cabin despite our attempt to clear them out and close all doors/windows- including two spiders that had fallen onto the children's bunk beds from the ceiling above. There were also several hornets nests and large, thick cobwebs covering the playground area and outdoor amenities as well as the outdoor patio 'furniture' rendering them unusable. The 'grass' and weeds were only cut around the front set of cabins (the ones shown in their photos), leaving all of the other cabins surrounded by overgrowth, which surely creates a nice home for bugs and spiders to live. This could easily be solved by trimming directly around the cabin areas and walkways every few weeks, but is not. There are more details I can provide, however the main point of this review is to proclaim my immense disappointment at the charge issue and lack of any customer service response whatsoever. I will be happy to update this review once the owners respond to the customer service representatives at Booking and process the refund for the overcharge immediately. My next step is to file a claim with my credit card for the entire transaction, however, I would like to give the owners a chance to make things right more quickly and simply process the refund for the overcharge as they initially agreed to do. EDITED TO RESPOND TO OWNERS REPLY: - Because you charged my card at your location, Booking cannot adjust the charge. You need to do it manually. This was already made clear. - I fully support biodiversity and ecosystem growth, that does not excuse dangerous situations such as hornets nest nor spiderwebs and overgrowth in common play or sleeping areas. I can certainly add photos to this review if needed to support my point. - I find it interesting how quickly you responded to this review, but yet you still have not responded to my direct messages nor have you responded to the follow up messages from Booking, nor have you actually refunded the charges as promised several weeks ago. 🤷 Again, I'm giving you an opportunity to make this right, and will remove this review once you do, because I do appreciate small businesses and try to handle any issues respectfully. I've never before had to resort to leaving a public review to get a response, and wish this had been resolved more appropriately.

  This is the eighth time we have stayed at this site with field trip groups, and we hope to be back next year. It has everything we need, at a reasonable price. It used to be part of the VVF chain, and from this year is being run independently - the couple in charge gave us a very warm welcome, and are making great improvements, modernising the chalets, planting flower beds and wild-flower meadows. The site is green, tranquil and spacious, surrounded by mountains - it is a beautiful location. There's lots of space for kids of all ages to play, and lots of picnic tables. A very welcome addition this year is the bar, where you can buy a cold drink or ice cream, and sit inside or out to enjoy it. Each chalet is well equipped with everything needed for cooking your own meals. It is only 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village of Les Cabannes, where there is an excellent restaurant with a farm shop, a cafe-bar, two pizzerias, two small but well-stocked shops (both have an excellent selection of local cheeses and other local products), a bakery producing delicious bread and pastries, a pharmacy and a post office with a cash machine. This is an excellent place for a short break, a family holiday, or a ski trip in winter. There is so much to explore within a short distance - mountains, lakes, caves, museums, mediaeval towns and villages, castles, rivers....

  Very beautiful location and friendly staff! Apartments are clean and tidy with good facilities however an oven Could be a good addition :)
