A museum, a place

For what?

The MUB – Revel Wood and Marquetry Museum was born from a local tradition of artistic craftsmanship in addition to a desire to create a place to promote the know-how of the men and women who bring it to life today. In collaboration with the various stakeholders of the territory "Aux Sources du Canal du Midi" (Lycée des métiers d'art, du bois et de l'ameublement de Revel, Ébénistes & Créateurs) the museum and its team invite you to discover throughout the year, new exhibition projects on the current and past creations of local artisans.

How?

The MUB takes you on a journey from Tree to Art through several spaces: the xylotheque, a "wood library" that lists more than 200 types of wood. A trades area, which presents a collection of tools used by craftsmen. And a presentation of furniture, which bears witness to local know-how by illustrating the Revéloise creation of yesterday and today.

Finally, the museum has set itself several objectives to renew the interest of our visitors:

• Preserve and disseminate the heritage of Revélois artisans
• Awaken vocations by showing the possibilities offered by the artistic professions and their possible evolution
• Contributing to the influence of a technique that has become rare, marquetry, as much as one of its main production centers: Revel
• To be recognized as a dynamic cultural hub
• Reveal local, regional and national artistic riches.
• promote know-how and artistic craftsmanship

For whom?

• The museum is aimed at all art lovers, lovers of wood and its work and young people in search of a vocation.
• Today, the museum welcomes around 10,000 visitors and 1,500 schoolchildren each year.
