MONT VALIER National Forest Natural sites in Seix

The Mont-Valier state reserve is one of the oldest in the Pyrenees. Its highest point is the venerable Massif du Valier at 2838m. It is a reserve, protected and managed by the National Forestry Office, to preserve the exceptional flora and fauna that it shelters. It welcomes the public, hikers who want to explore this wilderness and learn more about the natural environment.

Patients and wildlife enthusiasts will be able to see all kinds of birds, raptors, as well as marmots and other mountain mammals. In summer, the sheep, numbering around 6,500, will be your hiking companions. They are part of an eco-pastoralism project to maintain the openness and beauty of the landscapes. Many paths cross the massif: the GR10 in particular as well as other paths that the tourist offices will communicate to you.
