Auzat is a French commune located in the Occitanie region, in the Ariège department. It is located in the heart of the Ariège Pyrenees, approximately 115 km south of Toulouse.

Its territory is vast and mountainous, with peaks reaching over 3,000 meters in altitude, such as the Pic du Montcalm and the Pique d'Estats.

The town is part of the Ariège Pyrenees regional natural park.

A bit of history

The village of Auzat has an industrial history linked to the exploitation of aluminum.

There are remains of dry stone pastoral huts, called orris, and the Château de Montréal-de-Sols, a former castle of the Counts of Foix.
