Created in the mid-19th century, the Massey Garden is a remarkable 11-hectare landscaped park located in the heart of Tarbes. It is considered a jewel of the city and a popular walking spot for locals and tourists.
A cloister classified as a Historic Monument
The garden houses a cloister listed as a Historic Monument. This cloister has a special history: it was purchased by the city of Tarbes in 1890 from the Abbey of Saint-Sever-de-Rustan, which did not have the means to restore it. The cloister's 15th-century capitals are particularly remarkable, with scenes from the Old and New Testaments, as well as fables and legends.
