    • Les Abattoirs, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Toulouse and FRAC Midi-Pyrénées, is an emblematic cultural site in Toulouse.

      A historical and cultural place

Housed in the town's former slaughterhouses, a 19th-century building, the Abattoirs opened in 2000.
They are the result of the merger of the Toulouse Museum of Modern Art and the Midi-Pyrénées Regional Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC), making it a unique place in France.

      A place of plural art

The Abattoirs house a permanent collection of modern and contemporary art as well as temporary exhibitions.
The venue also offers a multidisciplinary program, including concerts, performances and screenings.
The museum's collection includes approximately 3,880 works and objects of all origins, which trace the history of modern and contemporary art, from 1934 to the present day.

A place for dissemination and sharing

The Abattoirs' mission is to disseminate modern and contemporary art and make it accessible to as many people as possible.
They offer cultural and educational activities for all audiences as well as off-site activities in the region.

Magnificent discovery, an incredible place that makes you want to come back immediately. I carried out my visit with the audio guide of the exhibition "open your eyes" (a podcast): anecdotes about the place, the lives of the artists and the subjects of the photographs which make us experience the journey in a different way. The nugget in my opinion: the immersion of the 3 winners of the Mezzanine Sud Prize, in particular the world of Socheata Aing.

Was very disappointed by our visit to the Abattoirs. I suppose I should have researched better, but there does not seem to be a permanent collection and the temporary exhibits were underwhelming. The...
