The blue lake is located at 1977m altitude, it is 52ha and 135m deep! It is the deepest lake in the Pyrenees. It is in the town of Beaucens, which is right next to Bagnères-de-Bigorre. It is of course its beautiful blue color that gives it its name, it is located in lush greenery.
To get there, you have to walk for 2 hours and 30 minutes and be in good physical condition. Leave well equipped and bring water and snacks. The easier hike is from Le Chiroulet at 1087m in the Lesponne massif. You cross the bridge, then the winding path that goes up to the plateau where the lake is located.
