Ibos is a French commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées. It is located near Tarbes, in the historic region of Bigorre and benefits from a privileged geographical location, in the heart of the Pyrenees.
History
Ibos has a rich historical past, having been an important city in the Middle Ages. The city was one of the chief towns of the bailiwick of Bigorre. It is part of the former county of Bigorre, a historical county in the French Pyrenees and Gascony.
Heritage
The Collegiate Church of Ibos is a remarkable historical monument, listed in 1862. Its original architecture bears witness to the city's prestigious past. Inside, the pulpit and the statue of Saint Lawrence, both from the 18th century, are listed.
The structure of the city, with its streets arranged in concentric circles around the collegiate church, is also a notable element of its heritage.
