    • The Jacobin Convent of Toulouse, located in the heart of the city, is a jewel of southern Gothic architecture and an emblematic historical monument.

      • History and foundation

Founded in the 13th century by the Dominican Order (called Jacobins in Toulouse), this convent bears witness to the establishment of this religious order in the region. It was within the walls of the church that the University of Toulouse was founded in 1229.

      • Architecture

The Southern Gothic style, with the use of Toulouse brick, gives the building a unique and warm aesthetic.
The cloister, the church with its famous "palm tree" (a group of radiating columns), the refectory and the chapels (notably the Saint-Antonin chapel) are remarkable elements.

      • Cultural and spiritual significance

The convent houses the relics of St. Thomas Aquinas, making it an important place of pilgrimage and veneration.

Today, the convent is open to the public and hosts concerts, exhibitions and guided tours.
It offers a space of serenity and discovery in the heart of urban hustle and bustle.

The place is grandiose, church and cloister. The explanations are precise on the life of the Dominicans and of Saint Dominic. Average welcome in the shop with few smiles and especially gifts more oriented towards knights and the Middle Ages like in Carcassonne.

A very pleasant place where you can appreciate the architecture, the poetry of the stained glass windows and the play of light, and the history of the convent. Be careful, you can easily indulge in sunbathing in the cloister, tables and chairs are available! You risk falling behind on your schedule! Small downside: €5 PT entry to the cloister which I find a little expensive
