    •  In the heart of the Forges de Pyrène village, the smell of bread, the sound of the anvil, the hammer and the school bell will tell you about the history of the Pyrenees. During animated workshops, the mediators will amaze, make you remember and rediscover the richness of a bygone era.

Among these workshops is the only hammer forge, classified as a historical monument since 1987. The hammer, operated by a water mill, is one of the very last still in use in France.

The museum area and its collection of more than 5,000 tools invite you to discover the secrets of old trades. From the most well-known to the most unusual, the trades are presented and grouped into several themes: itinerant trades, agriculture and animal husbandry, domestic life, housing and clothing.

The iron museum plunges visitors to the Forges de Pyrène into the atmosphere of the great iron epic in Ariège, accompanied by Anatole, an engineer and scholar of his time, and the main theme of the animation. Architectural evolution, technical principles, historical documents, film sequence... Everything is done to enable you to understand the highlights of this real human epic.

Discover also the beautiful and moving story of Baptistou in the "Ages of Life". Baptistou, a grandfather from the Ariège, nostalgically tells his great-granddaughter, Marion, the story of his life in the Ariège in the 1900s. Animated stage show.

My participation in the horrifying immersive journey to the forges of Pyrene organized by Ash'em Production - The Forgotten Village - The Halloween Evening, an unforgettable hour where the paranormal reigned between fear, chills, startle, horror. It was a strange and very good evening 👍

We enjoyed our day at Les Forges. It would have been better if we spoke French but it was still worth it. The working forge powered by water was really cool and the kids also enjoyed the old...
